LED HDTV Technology Explained

Posted by admin | Posted in Home and Family | Posted on 23-12-2011

Today’s televisions may be entirely unrecognizable from other earlier variations in the marketplace. Up to be able to now, the most hi-tech TV’s of around were the particular heavy, monochrome designs. But these nights, slender models detailed with flat, colorful displays are already the fad.
TV innovation may have just attained its peak with all the arrival of people high-definition TV’s that will generate realistic and in addition high-resolution pictures. LG 55LW6500 may very well be being a throughout the world trend, with several companies launching superior-quality products at each start date.
And the modern improvement to this extensive distinct fantastic technology could be the LED HDTV. This kind of kind of TV set provides enjoyment and in addition technology likes simply no other.
What can be a LED HDTV?
LED or Mild Emitting Diodes means a technology built to enhance the backlighting regarding LCD HDTV’s. Although LCD TV’s characteristic Cold Cathode Neon Lamps (CCFL’s), LED technology functions by using numerous LED tubes create all around the edge or in the rear of the TV display screen. This lets the screen to provide light and deeper shades for pictures and because of this, the images appear as far more lively and furthermore realistic.
All these (bare) tubes also allow this type of TV sets to get slimmer when comparing other sorts regarding HDTV’s, because the source of light is often intentionally located directly behind or on the sides with the display and the particular over-all size with the TV set tremendously minimized. With a couple of diffusion layers and also light pipes, slimmer LED HDTV’s could be possible.
You can also find LED HDTV’s which just a «thick is often LED and LCD HDTV’s are generally different with each other due to backlighting, with the previous utilizing LED bulbs as well as the latter utilizing fluorescent tubes. Applying this, LED TV’s offer somewhat more attractive and innovative options in comparison to their LCD counterparts carry out.
Samsung UN60D8000 is practically just an LCD TELEVISION that integrates the particular LED technology. Even so, most electronics manufacturers still elect to refer to these products as separate kinds of TV; nevertheless, in this it creates more misunderstandings to consumers.
LED backlights can appear in 3 sorts, each one featuring its own layout regarding LED tubes in the TV set. The very first kind is Energetic RGB LEDs that will feature colors with excellent contrast proportions. The LED tube backlights on this design are located behind the panel. Another one will be full-array LEDs the location where the backlights are positioned guiding the display.
However, full-array LEDs are usually incapable in showing a quicker photo display since the LED tubes cannot brighten or gray individually. Finally, there’s also the particular Edge LEDs which provides a more uniformly distributed color about the same screen. Edge LEDs can easily produce images a lot more accurately since their particular backlights are distributed through the entire display screen.
Because LED’s may be individually controlled it really is straightforward for the particular LED tubes to automatically let down to show the particular deepest shade of black for the images, while alternatively, lighten up intelligently to brighten the particular display and deliver the proper contrast.
Both of the functions of the particular LED tubes enable these to provide an impressive contrast ratio through the entire screen. This means improved more energetic and desired photos.

Troubleshoot Windows with Task Manager

Posted by admin | Posted in Computers and Technology | Posted on 12-06-2011

Task Manager is a Windows system utility that displays the tasks or processes currently running on your computer. To open Task Manager, press Ctrl+Alt+Del. The Applications tab lists the applications currently running on your computer. A single application may actually consist of several running processes, and many programs that run in the background are not listed (you can see icons for some of these programs in the System Tray).

Note: With Windows 98 and Windows Me, Ctrl+Alt+Del will open Program Manager, which allows you only to close applications. However, you can download one of the many Task Manager utilities from the Web.

The Processes tab displays a comprehensive list of all the processes currently running on your computer. This can be very useful for monitoring your system. The process tab displays information about the processor usage and memory usage of each process. The problem is, how to identify a process. Below is a list of some processes you may see in Task Managers Processes list.

“System Idle Process” “System” The Windows System Process “SMSS.EXE” Session Manager Subsystem “CSRSS.EXE” Client Server Runtime Subsystem “WinLOGON.EXE” The Windows Logon process “SERVICES.EXE” Services Control Manager “LSASS.EXE” Local Security Authentication Server Service “svchost.exe” Service Host “spoolsv.exe” The print spooler service “explorer.exe” Windows Explorer “TASKMGR.EXE” The Task Manager “regsvc.exe” Remote Registry Service

“System Idle Process” is basically another name for the time when Windows is doing nothing. There are hundreds of thousands of processes that run on a computer, so you will definitely find names of many other processess that are not listed above. For a list of well known processes, visit www.answersthatwork.com/Tasklist_pages/tasklist.htm You can also learn about almost any task by using it’s name as a search term in google.

Task Manager can also be used to tweak your system if it’s running slow. The Performance tab displays running graphs of your computers CPU and memory usage. If the CPU usage seems to be running over 80 percent most of the time, or if the memory usage seems to be running higher than the total physical memory, you may want to shut down some applications or processes.

On the Process tab, you can identify processes that are consuming a lot of processor time. Click twice on the CPU column heading to sort the CPU column so the processes hogging the most CPU time on top. You can sort the “Mem Usage” column the same way.

On the Application tab, if you right click on the name of an application and, in the popup menu that appears, choose “Go To Process”, Task Manager will open the Processes tab and highlight the process that runs the application. On the Processes tab, if you right-click on the name of a process, you can choose “SetPriority” and promote the priority of the process you need (or demote the priority of a different process to free up some resources).

If you go to the Application tab and shut down an application, you will shut down any processes related to that application. Or, you might choose to shut down a background process that you can identify. To shut down an application or process, click on it’s name in the list to highlight it, then click on the End Task button.

On the Processes tab, if you right click on the name of a process, you can choose “End Process Tree” to kill the process and any sub-processes started by the process.

Task Manager can also be used for troubleshooting. If an application freezes up, you can open Task Manager and shut down the application. If the entire system freezes up, you can use Task Manager to shut down a process that is hogging all the CPU time or memory.

If you spend some time monitoring your computer with task Manager, eventually you will become familiar with the processes that commonly run. Then, when you see an unfamiliar process, you can do a little investigation to make sure it’s not a virus. For example, if you see msblast.exe in the process list, your computer is infected with the Blaster virus. You might be able to detect and eliminate a new virus before an antivirus update is available.

Got Purpose?

Posted by admin | Posted in Self Improvement | Posted on 11-06-2011

Is your life on purpose? Does just the question stop you in your tracks? Have you been so caught up in the pace of our world that you’ve not even thought lately about whether or not your life is going in the right direction?

Of course, living a life on purpose starts with knowing what your purpose is. Are you crystal clear about what the purpose of your life is? If you aren’t sure, then you’ve just identified the place at which you should start a new life of purpose. Start by getting clear about what your purpose is. Don’t feel bad if you don’t already have this clarity. In a recent survey of more than 3000 people when asked the question, “What have you to live for?” 94 percent said they had no definite purpose for their lives — 94 percent! That leaves only 6 percent of us who know why we’re here. It’s no wonder we’re not a particularly happy society.

How can you know if you’ve hit your purposeful stride? The life you lead should be a full expression of your purpose. Those of us on the outside looking in should be able to figure out atleast the broad scope of your purpose just by looking at your actions. The person you are should be a reflection of your purpose.

Knowing your purpose however is really only the start. Many people feel they know their purpose but also realize that their life doesn’t reflect it. In other words, they aren’t living true to it. When you’re living your purpose your life and the person you are become perfect reflections of it.

The good news is that it’s not too late. It is possible to start living on purpose immediately, even before you clearly know your purpose. Because asking yourself, “who am I and what is my life for?” begins to move your life into a new direction. It all starts when you ask the question. Don’t stop with just asking the question. Answer it as well. Then get busy becoming.

“Seek and you will find. Ask and it will be given unto you.”

Make this week really count. Discover and start living your purpose.

Thanks for sitting with me.

Live some. Love some. Learn some. Everyday.

SQL: Querying Microsoft Great Plains – Overview for Database Administrator/Developer

Posted by admin | Posted in Computers and Technology | Posted on 09-06-2011

Looks like Microsoft Great Plains becomes more and more popular, partly because of Microsoft muscles behind it. Now it is targeted to the whole spectrum of horizontal and vertical market clientele. Small companies use Small Business Manager (which is based on the same technology – Great Plains Dexterity dictionary and runtime), Great Plains Standard on MSDE is for small to midsize clients, and then Great Plains serves the rest of the market up to big corporations. There are several reporting tools available and you definitely need to know which one to use for different types of reports.

If you are database administrator who is asked to import some data to Great Plains or repair or copy data from one company to another – read this and you will have the clues on where to look further.

1. Microsoft Great Plains Tables Structure – Launch Great Plains and go to Tools->Resource Description->Tables. Find the table in the proper series. If you are looking for the customers – it should be RM00101 – customer master file.

2. DEX_ROW_ID. This is identity column and each Great Plains table has it – this is due to the Great Plains Dexterity technology. This column is never used as a key field – so don’t try to link your tables on DEX_ROW_ID. In case if you need to transfer the table from one company to another you should use these queries:

Select * into GL00100_BAK from TWO.dbo.GL00100
go
alter table GL00100_BAK drop column DEX_ROW_ID
go
insert into GL00100 select * from GL00100_BAK
go
drop table GL00100_BAK

The set of queries above will transfer GL00100 (Account Master table) from TWO company into your current company. Then you need to run Checklinks – refer to GP Manual – in order to recreate the rest of the account master related tables.

3. Do not modify the table – sometimes it seems to be nice if you just append couple of extra columns to the table – like in IV00101 – inventory master file why wouldn’t you just add couple of additional descriptions. If you do this – Great Plains Dexterity engine will fail reading all your items – due to the fact that DYNAMICS.DIC (main Great Plains Dictionary file) has exact description of all the tables and Dexterity uses it for reading and writing into the specific table

4. Feel free to create SQL views or stored procs. If you are helping your internal developers to create Crystal Reports – good SQL views are real help to them. Let me give you example, the view below will show work and historical SOP Invoices – then Crystal can just use it

Create view SOP_WORK_HIST
as
select SOPNUMBE, CUSTNMBR, CUSTNAME, DOCAMNT from SOP30200 where SOPTYPE=3 and VOIDSTTS=0
union
select SOPNUMBE, CUSTNMBR, CUSTNAME, DOCAMNT from SOP10100 where SOPTYPE=3 and VOIDSTTS=0

The above view will show all the work and historical non-voided invoices (SOP Type = 3 stays for invoice)

5. Some repair / unlocking tips:

If you run query above against DYNAMICS database – it will unlock the user, who accidentally shut down the computer without logging off Great Plains:

delete ACTIVITY where USERID=’JOHN’

Next one will unlock hanging batch:

update SY00500 set BCHSTTUS=0 where BACHNUMB = ‘JULYINVOICES04′

Weight Loss Through Low Carb Diet

Posted by admin | Posted in Health and Fitness | Posted on 09-06-2011

Are you or your family members amongst the 65%?

To help with weight issues and for overall improved health, many people turn to diets. In fact, government statistics show that while about 65 percent of Americans are overweight, 38 percent are actually doing something about it.

And according to a recent survey by the National Health Institute, about a third of overweight Americans who are trying to lose weight, are doing so by eating less carbohydrates (carbs) largely because of the increased popularity of fad diets like Atkins Diet and the South Beach Diet.

Although there have certainly been other low-carb or low-sugar diet plans before, and more will most assuredly come out in the years ahead, let’s take a look at the basics behind many of the major plans. And let’s take a look at how they fit into the real world today. Because while it might be great to lower the body’s sugar content and be healthier, wouldn’t it be great to learn how to do so while being part of this fast-paced world?

In the world of instant messaging, quick Internet interaction and the already multi-faceted day-to-day hectic schedules, dietary food budgeting, planning, preparing and shopping are issues that can become major sources of stress and reasons for dieting failure. Dual income families on-the-go and other super-busy wage earners and dieters often already suffer from more than their share of everyday stressors like fears of being laid off, their jobs being relocated or terminated, juggling more than one job, dependents (both elderly and minors) and trying to fund and juggle continuing education into their lives, budgets, and daily routines.

People want and need simpler solutions. And they need simpler dieting plans. Forget spending mega bucks on gourmet, hard-to-find items. Forget spending hours just to prepare meals. And forget counting, measuring, and weighing ingredients.

Either a low-carb plan fit into real-world lives, or it doesn’t. First we’ll take a look at some basic terms and definitions to help understand the science behind low-carb plans. Let’s see how many of the major players’ plans measure up.

Note that the contents here are not presented from a medical practitioner, and that any and all dietary planning should be made under the guidance of your own medical practitioners. This content only presents overviews of low-carb research for educational purposes and does not replace medical advice from a professional physician.

Six Factors That Can Cost You the Interview-Job

Posted by admin | Posted in Business | Posted on 08-06-2011

Most job seekers know that an unprofessional appearance will count against them at an interview. Here are six MORE factors that can help you remain in the unemployment line:

(1) Being unprepared for the interview. Prepare, plan, and practice! In today’s tough job market, you MUST do everything you can to give yourself an edge… preparation is the key.

(2) Not being able to communicate clearly and effectively. This is important during the interview and on the job. Being nervous can really mess up your communication skills, so being well prepared and practicing what you’re going to say are always your best bet.

(3) Being aggressive, arrogant, or acting in a superior way. No one wants to hire or work with people who think they’re better than everyone else. Be careful with your attitude, even if you think you’re surrounded by incompetent fools. Being confident is good. Being an arrogant jerk is bad.

(4) Making excuses for failings. Your teacher never bought “The dog ate my homework!” and your boss isn’t going to buy “The finance department gave me the wrong figures!” In the grown-up world, you have to take responsibility for what you are responsible for! You’ll never earn respect by blaming others when things go wrong.

(5) Saying unfavorable things about previous employers. Even if you left a job because the boss was an egomaniac who took credit for all of your hard work, verbally abused you in front of others, and poisoned the plant on your desk, don’t say anything bad about him/her during an interview. When asked “Why did you leave your last job?” say something like “My manager and I both agreed that my advancement opportunities were limited there and obtaining another position was the best option for me and my career goals.”

(6) Having a poor/limp handshake. Why do people think you’ll be a lousy employee if you have a lousy handshake? That’s not really logical, is it? Doesn’t matter. It just turns people off and gives them a bad impression of you. So make your handshake firm and confident but not bone-crushing. (It’s not a competition to see who winces first!)

If you DON’T want to be unemployed, don’t let any of those traits apply to you!

The Death of Customer Service

Posted by admin | Posted in Business | Posted on 07-06-2011

The other day a reporter call to interview me on the “Death of Customer Service”. My first reaction was to deny that charge and claim that customer service is very much alive and well. But upon further thought of the service I’ve received over the past few months and what others have related to me about their experiences, I had to admit that the quality and level of service has decreased. Upon further thought I realized that it has been on a decline for quite a while.

I finally admitted to the reporter that yes, I have to agree that customer service is not doing as well as I’d like to think it is. Of course his next question was, “Why is that?”

I believe there are 4 basic reasons for the demise of customer service.

  1. The booming economy of the 90′s created an atmosphere where management took the stance that if one customer didn’t like what they were doing, there were plenty lined up behind him/her that had their credit card ready to be processed. Why go the extra mile for someone who was so easily replaceable? This attitude is still pervasive which adds up to poor customer service.
  2. Poor hiring practices are what I believe to be another reason why customer service is so poor. Unemployment has been so low that finding new employees has been a major challenge for companies. They hired marginal people, people with poor attitudes, people with poor work ethics, and people who don’t care. Put these employees in a position where they interact with customers and you have a formula for poor customer service.
  3. Lack of training of these marginal employees is another problem. Managers have the philosophy that since the employee won’t last that long in the position, why put the time, money and effort into training them. Of course the lack of training leads to low morale, confusion on the part of the employee and costly mistakes. The employee doesn’t last in the position because they don’t feel supported by management, then management feels justified for the lack of training they give. This all adds up to poor customer service.
  4. Profit driven decisions of management as the criteria for solving all problems is another reason for the death of customer service. Rather than do the ‘right’ thing, decisions are weighted by what it will cost the company. Scheduling is planned by what it costs in dollars rather than what it costs in poor service. Customer complaints are judged by the impact on the bottom line rather than on the impact on customer satisfaction. This short-term thinking gives out the clear message to employees that the company’s needs are more important than the customer’s. This justifies the attitude of employees of not caring about the customer which again adds up to the delivery of poor customer service.

Using Outlook to Count Responses

Posted by admin | Posted in Business | Posted on 06-06-2011

Here’s a productivity tip that will save you a lot of time and trouble if you need to collate responses from staff for any reason, especially if you work for an organisation with a lot of staff.

Case Study: I worked for a financial institution with 3,000 plus employees and had to identify how many employees needed compulsory training in certain legislation so that we could plan and resource the training.

I emailed everyone within the centre with a request that if they had not completed the training within the last three months, they were to reply to my email without changing the subject line. They were to reply by a certain deadline … any queries were to be sent via a new email addressed to me and I explained why.

I created a folder called ‘Legislation Training’ and used Rules Wizard to divert any email received with the subject line: ‘Legislation Training Requirement’ into the folder. Every time a new email arrived it automatically went into the folder and Outlook incremented and displayed the number of unopened emails in the folder in brackets at the end of the folder name. It looked like this: ‘Legislation Training (125)’.

By the deadline all I had to do was look at the end of the Legislation Training folder to see how many people needed the training. No counting … all done automatically by our productivity tool Outlook 2002.

As the fast talking salesman on the television said, ‘And there’s more!’

When I was asked for a list of the names of those who had responded, all I had to do was export the Legislation Training folder emails to MS Excel. Excel allows you to choose the fields you export. I chose the ‘From’ field and finished up with a list of names since all email addresses were in the format WILLIAMS Royston. Once in Excel it was a simple matter to sort them into alphabetical order.

Not only that, I could now email 20 people at a time and advise them when and where they had to attend this mandatory training.

This is an excellent way to deal with large numbers of people and, although Outlook does have options for creating forms with yes/no buttons and so on in them, it is more complex than this option.

I hope this short article has been of interest to you and that it helps you improve your work performance.
